The Barwon South West Climate Alliance is a formal partnership
between organisations in South West Victoria
committed to working together on climate change
adaptation, mitigation and resilience projects,
​sharing knowledge and advocating for a just, thriving and climate resilient region. 

OUR PURPOSE:

Our purpose is the reason we exist. It's four statements are principles and directives that guide every decision we make and every project we choose to take on. A commitment to fulfil our shared purpose is agreed to by all members as a condition of membership. It is the glue that binds us and the map and compass that steer us.

The Legal Purpose of the Barwon South West Climate Alliance is to:​

  • collaborate to achieve a net zero emissions region;
  • work together on projects, advocacy and knowledge sharing to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change
  • help build climate informed, active communities; and
  • enable a thriving, and liveable climate resilient region.

Our logo is a symbol that represents our partnership and our commitment to working together collaboratively across the diversity of landscapes, waterways and communities in the Barwon South West region.

​​​The Barwon South West is made up of coastlines, wetlands, national parks, urban communities, agricultural landscapes, regional cities and cultural sites. Our partnership cares for them all as a unified landscape of the land and waters of the Barwon South West. This image can be viewed as two hands working together. IT can be seen as lands and waters, as bird and marine life, as ecosystems and communities working together. 
The alliance partnership is a space dedicated to working together. The hardworking hands of Local Governments, water authorities and catchment management authorities and higher education is represented by this logo, reminding us that coming together to build resilience and adapt to climate change is the best methodology we can think of.
